Police Uniforms

While specific components can vary slightly depending on the agency preference, a standard police uniform traditionally includes a duty shirt (often a collared, button-down shirt), duty pants, a duty belt (equipped with holsters for firearms, handcuffs, radios, and other essential gear), and sturdy footwear. In recent years some departments have transitioned from traditional style shirts to more hybrid styles featuring a collared neck and more breathable fabric on the torso to pair with external carriers and covers.

When it comes to Class A and Class B uniforms, the difference is in the level of function and appearance.

- Class A uniforms convey distinction and formality; designed for when an officer's presence must show authority and respect. These include formal occasions like honor guard duties, parades, court appearances, public receptions, and more. Class A garments often have military creasing, a crisp, tailored fit, scalloped pockets, and premium fabrics. Full Dress Class A uniforms typically include a button down shirt, matching trousers, and a dress coat.

- The Class B uniform is engineered for the demands of daily duty. This includes everyday patrol where the environment can change in an instant. These uniforms are designed with comfort, durability, and function in mind. Shirts typically include gussets and stretch fabric, while pants have reinforced stitching, cargo pockets, and stretch material as well.
